Staying on a Budget This Summer

Traveling any time of the
year can be a bit difficult in terms of finances. Summer is often especially
hard as things tend to be on the higher end of their prices in the summer. For
many, money puts people between a rock and a hard place, leaving them with no
ability to do much else beyond going somewhere for a short trek, if even that.
However, even when in a financial bind, there are ways that will allow you to
navigate vacations and excursions on a budget that works for you, without
having to sacrifice too much on your trip. Here are our top tips to staying on
a budget this summer for your vacation!
Travel
in the Late Summer
The earlier in the summer
that you go, the busier the places are and the more expensive they tend to be
as well. Travel patterns tend to decrease later in summer, so, if possible, we
suggest waiting until August and/or September for your summer trips! However,
avoid Labor Day weekend travel if you can, as prices tend to go back up for
that long weekend.
Pack
Smartly
No matter how you are
traveling, packing smartly is incredibly important. People often overpack and
then end up having to pay to check a bag. If you pack smartly, for most trips
up to one weeklong, you can survive off of a carry-on luggage bag. Avoid the
unnecessary extra cost and simply pack lightly. This means packing a reasonable
amount of clothes, packing only the necessary toiletries, and filling any remaining
available space with only other fully essential items.
Road
Trip When Possible
Road tripping is actually
often less expensive than a flight. Rather than paying several hundred dollars
per person per flight, you can all travel in one vehicle in which you only have
to pay for the gasoline. This is far better financially as these total costs
often are around the price of one to two flight tickets, but instead of per
person, this total can all be split amongst the group. Road tripping is also
especially fun as it allows you to explore and enjoy the journey as much as the
destination! If you worry about the person enjoying their time as the driver,
you can actually make a more enjoyable experience for all by booking a travel
trip with a driver! For example, you can book a Van-On-Demand service with us
so that you can bring all of your friends, and everyone gets to experience the
fun without worrying about driving.
